After 32 years of law enforcement service with a large urban police department, Charles E. Humes, Jr. retired honorably at the rank of Sergeant. He is recognized internationally as one of the pioneers of modern, realistic police tactical (primarily use of force) training. He has taught seminars and instructor certification schools as far West as Alaska and as far East as North Carolina; and has trained police instructors from across the globe at the international training conferences of: The International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors (IALEFI), and the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association (ILEETA).
During the 2016 Ohio Attorney General’s Law Enforcement Conference in Columbus, Ohio, with over 900 Police Chiefs, Sheriffs, and other law enforcement executives in attendance; Attorney General Mike DeWine presented Sgt. Humes with the 2016 Ohio Law Enforcement Distinguished Training Award.
Humes has been repeatedly chosen by selection committees to train instructors at major conferences conducted by the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association (ILEETA), and The International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors (IALEFI).
